Living And Care With Parkinson’s Disease
John, a widower and former pilot, living in South Surrey, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease at age 70. With few symptoms when diagnosed, he was living a full life for the past 5 years. But now 5 years later, things have changed.
He recently had a fall at home which took him to the hospital for a week. He takes pills 4 times per day (at same times each day) – Levadopa and L-dopa which are required to prevent his limbs from seizing up. Though he can still live independent, he needs some help with housekeeping, changing bedding, meal preparation, and doing his regular exercise routine (specifically for dealing with Parkinson’s disease). As he is 75 years old, he is becoming a little forgetful about his medication monitoring and with his specific medications, family and friends cannot consistently help John as he now requires.
John is a typical client dealing with Parkinson’s Disease at Happiness at Home Health care. He has hired home care support 2 hours per day, 5 days per week and he enjoys the companionship (which is an added benefit for him as many friends have passed away). Family and friends have noticed he seems more focussed. He says his care giver makes him feel everything is under control and nothing is left undone.
He also feels a little stronger.
